Bonfire Cushion Spurge - Euphorbia polychroma 'Bonfire'
Dependable and dramatic for a contrast of flowers and foliage in early spring. ‘Bonfire’ emerges as a rounded, green mound that rapidly turns a rich, maroon red. It’s the perfect background for its own buttery blooms and is especially fetching with blue-flowered spring bulbs. PP 18,585. Cultivated members of the genus Euphorbia are grown for their colorful bracts, which are leaves surrounding the insignificant true flowers, and these bracts are as showy as any bloom.
Plant in moist well drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Feed in spring with an all purpose fertilizer prior to new growth. Cut back spent flowers and stems to 15cm (6") to promote strong fresh new growth. Cut back plants in fall.
