Strawberries are a wonderful fruit that can give a good boost of nutrients to most people's diet. They taste succulently fresh and deliver a sweet treat to the taste buds, but the benefits go way deeper than that, Let's have a look.

What makes strawberries healthy?

Strawberries are one of the top 10 fruits that contain powerful antioxidants. Antioxidants clear the body of stress-causing free radicals that speed up the aging process. Antioxidants can even possibly reduce the chance of some known cancers. 

They contain only 50 kcal per 166 grams. So they are great to eat when on a calorie deficit diet. 

Strawberries also contain flavinoids called anthocyanins which have the ability to reduce the chance of a heart attack by 32% in young or middle aged women.

What else can strawberries do for me in terms of health?

Strawberries have a long list of properties that can benefit the human body when we consume them. Another powerful flavonoid found in strawberries is quercetin- this can provide anti-inflammatory effects that reduce risks of atherosclerosis and protect us from damaging cholesterol -LDL. Quercitin is also really great to help your body cope with allergies.

Strawberries contain polyphenols that have been proven to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease. There is also good news on this topic for diabetics as strawberries are low in the glycemic index chart and high in fibre, regular consumption can even reduce diabetic symptoms of kidney problems and neuropathy. 

Strawberries make a great addition to your oatmeal or cereal in the mornings or just on their own. The best way to eat strawberries is to eat them when as fresh as possible so grow you're own.  It's easy!
