Fast growing, high yielding berry that is well suited for commercial production. This University of Saskatchewan introduction produces a great tasting blueberry-like fruit that ripens before Strawberries. Also known as Honeyberries or Blue Honeysuckle, Canadian Haskap are superior to any other Honeyberries with sweeter, wild Blueberry flavor and larger, fleshier fruit not unlike oversize Blueberries. Extremely cold hardy plant as a plant and the fruit is very healthy. Requires cross-pollination and Polar Jewel Honeyberry is the best pollinator currently known.
Plant in full sun in the north, partial shade where summers are hot. Very easy to grow, no pest or disease problems. Not self-fertile, so plant two varieties. Bears fruit one to two years after planting.
