Duarte Plum - Prunus salicina 'Duarte'

Very large blood red heart shaped fruit with red flesh. Excellent flavor, one of the best plums on the market. Slightly tart when cooked. Good for eating fresh, jams and jellies. Dries well. Requires pollination with other Japanese Plums (Prunus salicina) varieties.

Water regularly as needed. Feed in spring with an all purpose fertilizer prior to new spring growth. Prune when young to create an open branching structure that allows for even light distribution and more consistent ripening of fruit. Prune broken or damaged limbs.
