Bylands has always been a company that realizes the importance of being environmentally responsible, and our proudest accomplishments are the things that we do to reduce the impact on the environment. We have employed the latest in drip irrigation technology and water recycling to reduce our total water consumption. Bylands was the first nursery in British Columbia to recycle water, and three water recycling ponds allow us to re-use a signficant amount of our water.
In May 2005, Bylands voluntarily completed a British Columbia Environmental Farm Plan, which is a governmentally recommended risk assessment of agricultural land. By completing this plan we have ensured that we are being proactive in identifying environmental opportunities and risks within our properties. The plan also helps us to reduce conflicts between agricultural and environmental interests, while making us better stewards of our lands.
Other environmental initiatives at Bylands include the re-use of plastics, composting of green waste, and integrated pest management programs.
